Laser Treatments
At Sculpt we can help clients wishing to eliminate fine lines, sun spots, melasma and hyper pigmentation using specialised laser treatments. The treatments can also work to reduce both superficial and acne scarring and improve overall skin tone and texture.
Boasting only the highest medical-grade technology provided by market leaders “Sciton” (http://www.sciton.com/), we can offer our clients three different types of laser treatments: laser resurfacing, profractional laser and micro-laser peel.
Each treatment penetrates the skin at different wavelengths. The laser light removes thin layers of the skin’s surface which is then replaced by fresh, younger-looking skin, giving a smoother and softer appearance.Â
When undertaking any laser treatments, clients are advised against sun exposure, solarium or fake tanning for at least two to three weeks prior to their treatments. Sun exposure following the treatments should be avoided and sun protection is recommended at all times.

LASER RE-SURFACING
What is it?
This treatment is the deepest and most effective procedure. It requires the longest amount of down time but delivers maximum results with minimal treatment. Â
How long does it take?
A full face resurfacing usually takes an hour. This procedure can be performed under a general anaesthetic, light sedation or topical anaesthesia.Â
How long is the recovery time and what can I expect?
Immediately after the procedure, the treated area will have the same sensation as a mild sunburn and there may be some pin point bleeding. The skin can remain raw for up to seven to ten days, and it is common to be red and swollen for up to one week. It is recommended to take between two to three weeks off work. The results are not instant and the symptoms will dissolve with time. As the skin heals and collagen begins regenerating, fine lines and wrinkles will start to improve, and continue to do so over the next several months.

PROFRACTIONAL LASER
What is it?
This treatment is milder than a full resurfacing, requiring less down time but repeated treatments. Where a laser-resurfacing treatment penetrates the full surface area of the skin, a profractional treatment ensures that only a fraction of the skin is targeted at one time. The body’s natural healing process stimulates the production of new collagen in the treated zones, making the skin’s appearance plumper, and smoothing-out wrinkles, lines and scars.
Profractional laser treatments can also be done at varying depths, and we can customise a package to suit your individual needs during your free consult.
How long does it take?
The procedure for a full face normally takes about 45 minutes to one hour. A topical anaesthetic needs to be applied at least 45 minutes before the procedure in order to minimize discomfort. In some cases one profractional laser treatment may be sufficient. However three treatments completed four to six weeks apart are generally recommended.

How long is the recovery time and what can I expect?
Immediately after the procedure, the treated area will have the same sensation as a mild sunburn and there may be some pin point bleeding. It is generally recommended to take at least four to five days off work. The deeper the treatment is the longer the recovery period needs to be. After the procedure, Vaseline is applied to the treated area acting as a barrier while new skin regenerates. Any redness and swelling will start to subside four days after the procedure, and at this stage makeup and bland moisturiser may be applied. Â
Â
MICROLASER PEEL
This is the mildest treatment as it requires the most minimal downtime but the most frequent treatments. A microlser peel is also called a “weekend peel” due to its fast recovery period- allowing clients to undergo the treatment on Friday, and be fresh and ready for work on Monday.
Â
How long does it take?
The procedure for a full face will take approximately 45 minutes. A topical anaesthetic needs to be applied at least 45 minutes before the procedure in order to minimize discomfort.Â
One treatment is sufficient for six to twelve months but it is recommended that a series of three to four treatments are required spaced six to eight weeks apart. It is the perfect treatment in between microdermabrasion and full skin resurfacing.Â
How long is the recovery time and what can I expect?
Immediately after the procedure a burning sensation is experienced and can last for three to four hours. During the next two days minor sloughing is experienced and swelling will subside.Â
